Cavalry 2.8
This week, I connected Claude with Cavalry via its MCP and created a 12-second animation by giving it only one chat prompt. A dot draws itself, multiplies into 420 copies on a Fibonacci spiral, and after undulating in front of a 2.5D camera, it folds back to close into a phrase. It didn't work on the first try. The spiral sprouted in reverse, from outside in, and extending the composition left the end black. Claude found both errors by reviewing frames and corrected them. My part was to approve the concept, request the palette and typography from my design system, and give the final phrase more time to be read.

Cavalry is the motion design tool that #Canva bought this year. Like Affinity, it's now free for individual use, even on commercial projects, and since version 2.8, it has an official MCP. I see a lot of potential in it. In Cavalry, the animation remains an editable system, and a color change in the palette updated the entire piece. The fact that it's also free is what makes it most compelling to try.
The phrase it closes with is what guides my work: "What AI accelerates, craftsmanship judges."
